Nike's Women Half Marathon

October 16, 2011
San Francisco

Two days later and my body is still aching from the 13.1 mile run I had managed to survive.  It's hard to walk, especially up stairs.  It took so much out of me, but I still made it to work Monday morning, limping and walking like a pregnant lady!

Endurance? Me? Pshh... I am definitely not a runner and wished that I had really committed to training for this marathon, but I didn't.  Running isn't exactly my forte especially because I often get a runner's stitch, which affects my runs.  For those of you who know what that is, you should know how painful it is.  It hurts to even breathe!

Anyhow, with minimal training (actually that's an overstatement), I managed to finish the marathon in less than 3 hours at 2 hours and 44 minutes.  I ran a total of 5 times throughout my training. The most I've run was 6 miles (with walking including).  The most I was able to run without stopping was about 3.5 miles.  I ran ZERO times in September with no physical activity at all, due to the fact that I was away on vacation and sick for a few weeks, oh and the horrible weather!

With that said, I was impressed and proud of myself.  If only I had a little more motivation, I could have done even better.  Definitely not bad for my first half marathon, untrained.  Imagine if I had trained for it.

I signed myself up because it was something I've been wanting to do.  It's in my bucket list to run a marathon of some sort and this year luckily a group of us decided to do it!  Yes, you do get awarded with a Tiffany's necklace when you finish.  No, I did not run to get one, but it is definitely a plus! Yay, I'm glad I got one think checked off on my bucket list.

Maybe I'll be brave enough to run it again next year!

So tired, but so happy I finished!

With more sore body, I have an excuse not to hit the gym up for the next week or so!
