Coachella Weekend 2 2012

I've been sick for the past week trying to recover from Coachella festivities.  Luckily, it wasn't until after Coachella that I got sick.  I guess it was an exhausting weekend because I don't remember the last time I was this sick!

Another thing knocked off of my bucket list. I've always wanted to attend this outdoor music concert that I've heard so much great things about. This was the year that some of my friends decided to go. Of course I was stoked that not only people wanted to go, but we'd also have a place to stay.  My friend, Ele, offered to let us stay at her aunt's place.  I am so thankful we didn't have to camp.  I'm not sure I would have survived.  First night consisted of us, rushing from SF to Oakland airport to fly down to Burbank for Ele to pick us up and then errands before heading to Indio, CA.  We made it just in time to witness Swedish House Mafia perform.  They were awesome, but my feet were not.  It was stupid of me to walk from the parking lot to the event in what seemed like 5 inch wedges.  It was about a 15 minute walk of torture.  My wonderful bf took off his socks for me to walk in them back to the car, otherwise, I don't think I would have made it back.

Coachella Outfit day 1.
It was hot in the city, so I was dressed prepared for the sunny socal weather.

We decided to hang out at our nice air conditioned place before heading out to the heat.  We drank, we ate and hung out by the pool, even snuck in some naps.

Rocking my sister's hello kitty glasses and my orange crochet top with my bathing suit underneath.  It was freaking hot!  I think I had the most fun this day.

Last and final day. We left a little earlier, right before sunset and did some parking lot pre partying.

I had so much fun.  I would definitely attend again.  I loved the open space, the weather and of course we had great company!  Next time I'll have to really study the bands and DJ's.  Despite my almost non existence knowledge of most of the performers, I enjoyed all the performances we were able to watch: David Guetta, Avicii, The Weeknd, Snoop, Dr. Dre, Eminem, Kaskade...

For most people I went with, they're probably used to the amount of debauchery, but for me, it's been awhile since I've partied like that.  My willingness to drink every time someone called me out on it.  10 days later and I'm feeling nostalgic.  Bring me back please.

Dimsum date turned into a Bridesmaid party...

My under the weather feeling pretty much subsided by Saturday morning.  Though I did wake up with a pounding headache that felt like a hangover.  It was beautiful out on Saturday morning!  I made my way to Milbrae to have dim sum with some of my nearest and dearests...

To find out in the end that it was a scheme for my big sis to gather all her bridesmaids together, well the ones that live within driving distance.  SURPRISE!!

Introducing the bridal party....

GREG, oh wait...no he's the groom.  He's taking Hang's place. Me. Annie. Jenny and Jane (her Maid of Honor).

Super sweet and creative way to ask us to be part of her big day!!

Yes.

A box full of goodies.

Love it.

 Love it. so me!
So true.
I am definitely honored and excited to be able to be part of Steph and Greg's big day!

It's my first time being a bridesmaid.  I will need all the advice and help I can get. Yay!

It will be a busy busy year, so bring it on! I'm ready for it.

Friday the 13th

Happy Friday the 13th.

For the most part the day went smoothly, so not much bad luck on my part, besides the fact that I'm feeling a little under the weather.

At least there's no more lightning and thunder today.  It was crazy yesterday.  Anyhow,  hope the weather stays nice for the next 10 days. Super excited for Coachella next weekend.  I can not wait!

Playing with apps on my phone...

This is how I eat my mango. Yummy!

throwback thursdays

I left my heart in New York

2009

New York, a city I'd only visit.  With the fast paced life style and the aggressiveness of the people there, I could never live the way they do.  I love visiting though.

Anyway, reminiscing my short hair.

Enjoying my first Shake Shack Burger. Delicious.

Asian people under the asian people sign. LOL

First time having Ippudo. Yummilicious.

A city with a great party scene and great eats.  These pictures makes me want to go back.  I need to plan a trip back there soon.

Oh by the way, it's storming out there tonight. Lightning and thunder. Yikes. Hope everyone stays warm and dry.

Rain rain, go away...so the weather will be nice for Coachella=]

Appreciation for nature

I've been wanting to go hiking for awhile now, but with our somewhat crazy weather, it hasn't allowed for us to do so.

Luckily the weather this past Saturday was perfect weather for hiking.

Definitely a therapeutic hike.

Fresh air, the warmth of the sun rays against your skin, slight whistling of the calm breeze, birds chirping, tranquil flow of water running through the national park.  Oh, I forgot to mention the mounds of horse poop on our trail.  Aside from that, it was definitely peaceful, unlike the hustling and bustling noises of the city life.  We hiked the Tennessee Valley Trail, which led us to a magnificent black sanded beach.  Families were there with their kids, having picnics and just hanging out while the kids played with the little stream.  We decided that we wanted to bring Henry's little cousins and introduce this spot to our friends.

Sometimes with the chaos of the city, it's nice to escape to somewhere more peaceful and serene.

Hiking outfit:
Tshirt: I love Grey's Anatomy (gifted souvenir from a friend who went to Seattle)
Shirt: BR Chambray shirt
Pants: Lululemon
Shoes: Asics

Rocks and stone to cross the little river creek.
Kids rolling a log and playing in the river/ creek

1.7 mile hike there, and 1.7 mile hike back.

I hope this national park is well preserved and stays for many years to come, not only for our generation to enjoy, but for many generations ahead of us.

We had bought sandwiches from Roxie's for lunch, but I was so hungry I ate half right after we bought it.  Henry ate half when we got to the park.  We decided to finish our other half of our lunch in Sausalito, where we could grab some ice cream from Lappert's after.  It really was a nice day to be out, so we wanted to take advantage of the nice weather and stay out.

We spent the evening at Henry's cousin's house where we had take out from Tony's Pizza and Sotto Mare.  Both restaurants had ridiculous wait times, so we decided to get take out instead.  We also got desserts at Stella's Bakery (all within a block from each other).

The evening ended late with great company, delicious food and grown up conversations.  We didn't leave until about 12:30am.  Boy was I exhausted.

As a result, we ate and slept the whole next day.

 Banh Canh
One of my favorite dishes.  Tapioca based noodles with home made fishcakes and meatballs.  Perfect for hangovers and something delicious to have. I love the softness of the noodles and the simple broth and delicious toppings.  So good, I ate it for two meals.

What a lazy sunday!  I didn't even get to read any...sigh.

This week's highlights

It's definitely been a long stressful week, so it was deserving of me to have a drink at dinner.  I'm not usually the one to say that I need or want a drink after work, but this week definitely calls for one.

Drinking some dark German beer at Shroeder's tonight. TGFreakingIF!

I breezed through the first two books of the trilogy, but for so some reason, I'm not as drawn to it as I was with the first two book.  This is the darkest and saddest of the three.  I'm a little more than half way done.  Perhap's I'll be done by the weekend...I hope it's the ending I want it to be.  For those who haven't started, I would highly recommend reading the series. So in love.

Carnita's plate from El Burrito Express 2.  I never crave Mexican food and especially getting food poisoning from this very restaurant a couple of years ago, I've been hesitant in eating burritos.  But lately, when my coworker chows down to this particular dish, it makes me salivate and have a plate of my own.  Thursday was the day, when I decided to get a plate of my own.  It was freaking delicious and filling. I only finished half of this during lunch and snacked on it throughout the day, so yes you can definitely share this between two people.  Oh and when you check in on yelp, you get a free churro. Yummo!

Driving through downtown traffic during rush hour to pick up the boo to head down to the south bay for our first day of class. Wish us luck!

To reward ourselves, we head to Orenchi Ramen for a late second dinner. Love their yolky boiled egg, broth, ramen noodles and chicken karage.  I've always loved the fact that all their waiters/waitresses speak Japanese.  It gives it a more authentic feel to the restaurant.  We'll definitely be able to frequent this place more now that class is only 10 minutes away! What a great treat!

My sister loves to do a lot of online shopping and send all her packages to my work.  Check out her latest purchase! Hello Kitty glasses! Fobby no?
Cutest, most adorable, sweetest boy ever! Can he never grow up and stay the way he is.  I love his company! My assistant for the day!

Even Chris gives this book a thumbs up.  Go grab your copy now!

Happy happy Friday! Hope everyone has a wonderful and drama free weekend!

If weather permits for us to do so, we'll go hiking tomorrow! Fingers crossed!

Throwback thursdays!

In college, I really liked taking pictures.  Not that I don't now, but not as much as I used to.  My motto: Take a picture because it will last forever. I wanted to basically document every event with pictures, therefore I carried a camera around with me.
Now, I just use my handy dandy Iphone. Boy, has technology improved over the years.

Here's a little something from those younger years.

Enjoy!

Chapter of Life: College
Year: Summer 2006
Location: Orlando, Florida

Clubbing in Orlando, Florida at annual akdphi back to school retreat with the bestest!

Berkeley, Sac State and Davis

With my favorite

One of the funnest experiences ever.  Aside from the long boring meetings that took all day, we were able to visit Universal Studios and Epcot at Disney World.  When I get the chance, I'd like to go back to Orlando and enjoy it as a vacay, instead of a "business trip".

Pictures always make me nostalgic. Happy Thursday!
